It delivers what the name promises: an A-OK, average bar. Located right next to the Fort Mitchell Graeters, I've driven past Average Joes numerous times and had no idea it was there until some friends invited me out one night. Average Joes is a blue collar, place to escape after work kind of bar. You won't find specialty cocktails, craft beer, or even root beer at this place. Miller Lite and Budweiser are the brews of choice, as well as flavored vodka. My friends like this place because of the $2.50 bourbon and Cokes and $3.00 pints. It's an easy way to drink cheap. They also have bags of chips and pretzels for sale for 50 cents each. That's a nice touch. While this is a smoking bar, being in Kentucky, my friends and I opted to sit on the patio which we had all to ourselves. This made for a pleasant night; the company definitely made my Average Joes experience better. Come winter, I doubt I'll be back simply due to the cigarette stench. It was pretty intense inside and I'd rather not have to wash my coat after each visit. If you're a blue collared, Budweiser, and cigarette enjoyer, Average Joes is your five star bar. Price per drink: $2.50

How have I not reviewed this terrible, terrible establishment yet? It's a travesty I tell you. What is Joe's? Well, it's the type of place you go when you simply don't care and just want to get trashed. That's something easy to accomplish considering how cheap the drinks are. Before you even think it, this is not a hipster hang out. This is where all the friends you forgot about in high school come to drink and watch the game and blow off steam when their shift ends at whatever factory they work at. Warning, this place is loud, smoky and can be absolutely insane. That's definitely it's charm though. The bartenders will come to know you quickly and you'll rarely need to ask for a double. Just don't come in expecting anything fancy. Joe's also has karaoke some days and it's highly amusing to come watch the locals belt out some Journey. All in all, there are much worse places to get drunk in.

I'm pretty much an expert in getting drunk here. Some things to know is that the owners are there a lot, and are very sociable. Tell them I say hello! The bar attracts a somewhat older clientèle, but on the weekends you can usually find younger people there as well. They have a trivia night in a Jeopardy like style, to which "hairy balls" is always an acceptable answer. Karaoke nights are best to be avoid. Now, I love these people to death, but I don't think even Autotune would help. There is intense ear rapage happening here, so you'd best take a seat outside on karaoke night. They also have a guitar player, who drinks as well as he plays. Tell him "Fire in the hole", and he'll certainly respond back with the same. I don't really know what this means exactly, (no live grenades that I'm aware of) but I'll be damned if it's not fun to say. Their patio is awesome, and is usually where the younger folks hang out. Sometimes there is enough parking, but it may get a little dicey on Fridays and Saturdays. There's an insurance place next door that has not minded (as of yet) when people park there. Sorry insurance place, I hope you're cool with that. Overall a nice, local watering hole with great service and hot bartenders.

I have some history with this bar by now. We go back a couple of years and I see past some of its flaws because you know, we're buddies. There is not much of a beer selection to speak of, but to their credit drinks are very cheap and the people who own/work at the place are all a lot of fun. The trivia nights and musicians are always fun, requests are welcome and they'll let you sing along karaoke style. The patio has a bar that sells cheap beers during the summer. If you're looking to go to a place with a group of friends and have some cheap drinks it's a good place to stop.

This place is a laid back kentucky bar. They've got a chill outside area.the crowd isn't intimidating and the bartenders have always been great! they have good prices for drinks and even have a menu to fill that belly before the drinking gets serious! any place that has karaoke is a friend of mine. Get some friends together and rock out at average joes! Also being walking distance from my home @thevinings is a huge plus :)

Nice little dive bar with pool table and a nice patio outside in the summertime with its own lil tiki bar. They have karaoke during the week if your into that...

I went here on a Friday with a friend who smokes. I actually found this place to be on the better end of the scale for smoking bars as I call them. This place is much better than Willies, but the parking isn't as vast. Drinks and food are cheap and pretty much what you would expect to find at your typical bar. They have one pool table, which is pretty much always taken. On Fridays they have Karaoke night...it's hilarious to listen to some crazy old school country music songs about Gatlinsburg,TN. I had a food time. My friend liked the fact that he could smoke inside.

This is a dive bar that looks to be in an old house. When we got there I'm happy I met a friend in the parking lot because I would have walked all the way around the building. There is plenty of tables for large groups. They don't have that many beers on draft but there are tons of bottles to choice from. It is just your average bar as the name say.

This is my go-to bar, as it is within stumbling distance from my apartment. It's not perfect: both the karaoke and the jukebox can get a little too twangy, and the decor is straight out of the Kentucky dive bar handbook. Also, they do karaoke Friday and Saturday. All I ask for is one weekend night to get buzzed without listening to Friends in Low Places three times. But I give it five stars because it makes me want to love it despite its flaws. For one the bartenders are amazing. They're quick with the drinks, quick with the jokes, and they treat everyone like a friend. And as far as the clientele goes, it's one of the more eclectic bars in the area. It seems like every conceivable group comes to the table here: the jocks, the hipsters, the good old boys (and girls), as well as your garden variety alcoholics. Not only that, strangers actually talk to each other here. It's got a big square bar where you can see and shout at everyone around you, whether you need to curse the Reds, the Bengals, or both. The food's pretty decent--burgers and wings and all the usual contenders. If you ever get sick of that, you can order from Papa John's, LaRosa's, or Jimmy John's. What more could you want? Besides the next round.

Joes is aptly named, as it is perhaps the most average bar you will ever come across. To its credit, there's nothing outright wrong with it. Drinks are cheap enough and never watered down, the atmosphere is friendly if occasionally a little raucous, there are the usual themed nights for trivia and karaoke, and it features a pool room and patio. There's food, too, although I've never tried it myself. It isn't dirty, dangerous, expensive, or inconveniently located (well, as long as you live in Kentucky). In fact, it even has its occasional high points, mostly in the form of its bartenders, who are as interesting and as gorgeous as any I've come across. And let's be honest--those qualities are of equal importance in a bartender. Where it stumbles a little is in its inability to set itself apart from the plethora of similar bars in the area. It has no defining traits, events, or design to make it a standout along the lines of Arnold's, Southgate House, Hofbrauhaus, or Cadillac Ranch. Now of course this gripe doesn't matter to everybody, and if all you're looking for is a modest quasi-dive with cheap drinks and people who remember your face if not your name, Joes will not disappoint. It's been the go-to bar for all my friends for a few years, and we rarely if ever have bad experiences there. But if you're looking for a place with any real character, you'll be sadly underwhelmed.
